Peasants, Zamindars, and Sepoys' Issues:

1. High Taxes and Strict Revenue Collection:

   • Peasants and zamindars were unhappy because of the high taxes and strict revenue collection methods.

2. Loss of Land:

   • Many peasants could not repay loans to moneylenders and lost the land they farmed for generations.

3. Sepoys' Discontent:

   • Indian sepoys in the Company’s army were unhappy with their pay, allowances, and working conditions.
   • हिंदी अनुवाद: कंपनी की सेना में भारतीय सिपाही अपने वेतन, भत्तों और सेवा शर्तों से नाखुश थे।
   • Difficult Words: discontent – असंतोष, allowances – भत्ते

4. Religious Concerns:

   • Some new rules conflicted with the sepoys’ religious beliefs, causing discontent.
   • हिंदी अनुवाद: कुछ नए नियम सिपाहियों की धार्मिक मान्यताओं के खिलाफ थे, जिससे असंतोष हुआ।

5. Fear of Losing Religion and Caste:

   • Many believed crossing the sea would result in losing their religion and caste. This led to resistance in 1824 when sepoys were ordered to go to Burma by sea.

   • Sepoys who refused the order were punished. In 1856, a new law required new recruits to agree to serve overseas if needed.
