Also he is under screening from the Chinese government.

According to the latest report from the Financial Times, Jack Ma was recently replaced as a judge in a television program ‘Africa’s Business Heroes’. He was replaced by an Alibaba executive. His picture was taken off from the website of the show.

An Alibaba spokesperson told Financial Times that Jack Ma couldn’t appear on the show because of some business schedule.

According to the report, the final of the show happened in November, shortly after Ma “made a controversial speech in Shanghai against China’s state-owned banks”.

Jack Ma’s absence has come under question at a time when two of his companies – Alibaba and Ant – have come under the screening investigation of China’s market watchdog.

China’s market watchdog had launched an investigation into anti-competition trade practices by the e-commerce firm Alibaba in last month , and also draw out a “rectification plan” for Jack Ma’s fintech venture Ant Group.

A TechCrunch reported that People’s Bank of China had summoned on December 26 to Ant Group for regulatory talks , announcing a plan for the fintech firm to “rectify” its regulatory violations.

Jack Ma is presently 25th within the list of the world’s richest businesspersons with a complete net worth of $50.6 billion.
